Cyber-Sniff for Men

I'd like to share some essential oil smells, but an internet blog poses a special challenge to the limitations of the nose. ;) So for those of you who are curious but don't have the funds to purchase several to try out, I'll describe here what I've experienced first hand with aromatherapy. On a side note, commercially produced cologne has gross ingredients. The manufactured smells are not worth the poisons (I don't use that word to invoke emotions, I mean it literally) & support of deceptive marketing that comes with them. If you describe what you typically smell like with a celebrity's name or a taboo word, consider a higher purpose for your aromatic state. Your fragrance can do so much more...

Galbanum- a deep, masculine smell. My husband describes it as the smell when you first walk into a really expensive hotel. It's fragrant influences are harmonic, balancing, & amplifying of spiritual awareness (translation: it stimulates the limbic system in the brain; the glands responsible for emotions, mood, & memory). This is 1 of the oils in Exodus 30 that the Lord told Moses to temper together as a perfume & use in the place where He would meet with him. I've used it in my hair rinse & describe it's scent as powerfully grounding.

Cedarwood- another stimulator to the emotions center, this oil smells slightly sweet reminding me of cherries but still woodsy. It's fragrance is recognized calming & purifying. Solomon built his home & the Lord's house out of cedar...sounds like a wise choice.

Sandalwood- a more expensive oil (sold in the 10mL bottle) this smell is a stirring scent on a man. It is grounding, stabilizing, & highly enjoyable to be around...can't get enough of this scent! Perhaps even save this oil for intimate times because it is wonderful! This oil is steam distilled from the wood...u can't get more manly that that! Aside from the same limbic effects this oil provides like the ones listed above, sandalwood is antitumoral & an immune stimulant. It enhances deep sleep by stimulating the release of melatonin. It is highly antiviral proven to kill Herpes simplex, Herpes zoster, & human papilloma virus (HPV). It also rehabilitates skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, & scars. Can your common fragrant spray do all that?!

Spikenard- yes, the oil used by Mary to anoint Jesus' feet before the Last Supper & mentioned in the poetic writings of the Song of Solomon. It is a deep smell invoking relaxation & soothing. More of a bitter smell than cedarwood or sandalwood, it still is amazing on a man. It's of the same family as Valerian, which has a much sharper, bitter smell. Applying this oil to the skin also strengthens the heart (address heart arrhythmias), improves circulation, is anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antibacterial, nourishes & regenerates the skin. It also combats nervous tension & aids with insomnia. No cologne compares to the benefits of using essential oils.

In closing, double your spending power, reduce toxins, stop patronizing deceptive advertising, & bless those around you by wearing essential oils as cologne.

  1. What a great post! Thank you! Do you recommend putting all of these oils directly on the skin or diluting them? Also, are these safe during pregnancy {while my husband uses them}?

  2. You can do either, you can apply directly on the skin or you can dilute them. If you take the time to dilute them you will use less and it will last longer. At www.mybutterlyoils.com it sells roller bottles. I fill the roller bottle with almond oil then add the EO until it is the strength I want. This way my husband can just roll it on every morning. I found if he had to do much work in putting it on he wouldn't. Yes these are safe for pregnancy, none of the oils are hormone oils. There is nothing better than cuddling up to a manly smelling neck!
