Homemade Lotion with Essential Oils

Lotions with healthy ingredients are hard to find and when you do they tend to be expensive leaving your skin greasy. Well here is an essential oil recipe so healthy you can eat it!! Plus it leaves your skin feeling wonderful.

 1/2 Cup Distilled Water
1/2 Cup any mixture of almond, grapeseed, olive or coconut oil
2T beeswax, grated
1tsp coconut oil
1tsp honey
10-20 drops essential oil

Step 1: Melt the beeswax and oil together over low heat.

Step 2: When melted add essential oil, honey and water mixing constantly until hot.

Step 3: Pour into a separate container and beat with a hand mixer, hand blender or put it into your blender (if you put it in your blender, it is not easy to clean back up.) Beat until mixture is completely cool.

Notes:

1. I keep my lotion in a pump device. I either re-use old lotion bottles or I will get a hand soap dispenser from the bath section of Target or Walmart.

2. The first pump or two may have a bit of water that separates, but after that your lotion will be good to go.

3. You do not have to keep mixture in the refrigerator.

 4. Be creative with your essential oils. Frankincense and myrrh are both wonderful oils for skin care. You can also go purely for your favorite scent like lavender or geranium. For men, sandalwood is a yummy manly scent. My personal favorite is a combination between lavender and vanilla. I do half of each.

5. When you are done if the lotion's scent isn't strong enough for you, feel free to add more and mix until blended.

 Enjoy!!

Homemade Face Cream for Oily or Dry Skin

I have very oily skin and no it didn't go away after puberty or even when I started eating healthy.  I had acne in small amounts for most of my life even though I tried every product on the market to control oil and treat my skin.  If you are any thing like me you are probably game to try any new facial products in hopes that you can wake up in the morning without that dirty oily sheen on your face.  The essential oil you use in this recipe is what will make all the difference.  Palmarosa is the best oil I have found to use in the recipe for your face care.  Palmarosa balances the sebum glands on your face which helps them produce an appropriate amount of oil.  It also helps generate new cell growth helping any scarring you may have.   I have had amazing success with this face cream recipe.  I put it on just before bedtime and when I wake up my face is not covered with oil as it used to be.  It also doesn't clog my pores so I have not seen an increase in breakouts.
Here is the recipe... Let me know how yours turns out!!

1/2 Cup Almond, Grapeseed or Olive oil
(you can use any one oil or combine two or more to get to your 1/2 cup)
1/4 Cup Distilled Water mixed with 1/4 tsp or taking soda
1 tsp shea butter (optional)
1/2 tsp Jojoba Oil (optional)
1 tsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp honey
2 T beeswax
10-20 drops of Palmarosa essential oil

Mix the beesewax and oil in a double broiler until melted.  Heat the water and baking soda until close to boiling.  Pour oil mixture into a bowl and pour the water slowly into the oil as you mix it with a hand mixer or blender.  Beat until it is cool then store in an airtight container.  If your cream is not thick enough, next time add more beeswax and try using a coconut oil in a more solid form.

I left out the two optional ingredients because I didn't have them and it turned out wonderfully!!

Enjoy!
