Not another Headache!!

Headaches are a challenging thing to treat because the causes are so numerous. They can be caused by stress, tension, pinched nerve, chiropractic problems, hormone problems, sinuses, food allergies, pollen allergies, digestive problems, chemicals in the air, sugar, caffeine...and the list could go on and on. It is important to not give up on your chronic headaches and to keep trying to find a pattern and thus a root cause. The best way to find the pattern is to keep a headache journal where you record exactly where the headache originates, what you were doing when it came on and what foods you ate that day. Once you find the foot cause of your headaches you can use essential oils and other herbal remedies to help find permanent healing.

For the focus of this article I will give you some ways to treat the headache symptom. There are four oils I would recommend. I have had different oils work on different headaches so if you try the first one and don't get complete relief keep trying and don't give up.

First I would try Paine. Paine is a blend of birch, clove bud, copaiba balsam, eucalyptus, helichrysum, and peppermint and was designed to combat any type of pain in your body. It also helps to regenerate muscles and bones as it fights pain. I apply it to my forehead, back of neck, temples and behind my ears. You can repeat that every 15 minutes as needed.

The next oil I would try if I don't get complete relief from Paine would be Peppermint. While Paine contains peppermint it is in a very small amount and sometimes for certain kinds of headaches the menthol in Peppermint just seems to work miracles. I would apply peppermint to the same areas as Paine. Make sure to dilute it with a carrier oil or it could burn your skin. Peppermint works extremely well for sinus type headaches. If you are sure that is what you have apply the peppermint on your sinuses as well and then just lay back and close your eyes. The scent from the peppermint will cause your eyes to water when you first put it on, however it dissipates after about 3-5 minutes.

Next I would try Wintergreen. Wintergreen is a pain fighting oil and of course it smells wonderful. I would apply wintergreen to wherever the pain of your headache is then on your pulse points such as neck, behind ears and throat.

Deeper would be the last essential oil on my list. Deeper is a blend containing birch, eucalyptus, helichrysum, fir, lemongrass, myrrh, peppermint, spruce, and wintergreen. Deeper was created to address nerves and muscles. If your headache may be caused by muscle tension, nerve damage or stress I would try Deeper. You can apply deeper to the back of your neck or on your head wherever the pain originates from. If you think you may have a pinched nerve or your spine may be out of alignment then I would also apply Millenia which has an aligning effect on your spine. It will help restore body systems to order.
