Homemade Lotion with Essential Oils

Lotions with healthy ingredients are hard to find and when you do they tend to be expensive leaving your skin greasy. Well here is an essential oil recipe so healthy you can eat it!! Plus it leaves your skin feeling wonderful.

 1/2 Cup Distilled Water
1/2 Cup any mixture of almond, grapeseed, olive or coconut oil
2T beeswax, grated
1tsp coconut oil
1tsp honey
10-20 drops essential oil

Step 1: Melt the beeswax and oil together over low heat.

Step 2: When melted add essential oil, honey and water mixing constantly until hot.

Step 3: Pour into a separate container and beat with a hand mixer, hand blender or put it into your blender (if you put it in your blender, it is not easy to clean back up.) Beat until mixture is completely cool.

Notes:

1. I keep my lotion in a pump device. I either re-use old lotion bottles or I will get a hand soap dispenser from the bath section of Target or Walmart.

2. The first pump or two may have a bit of water that separates, but after that your lotion will be good to go.

3. You do not have to keep mixture in the refrigerator.

 4. Be creative with your essential oils. Frankincense and myrrh are both wonderful oils for skin care. You can also go purely for your favorite scent like lavender or geranium. For men, sandalwood is a yummy manly scent. My personal favorite is a combination between lavender and vanilla. I do half of each.

5. When you are done if the lotion's scent isn't strong enough for you, feel free to add more and mix until blended.

 Enjoy!!
